Lower Westcliffe Falls

Lower Westcliffe Falls is 9 metres (30 feet) high and has a crest width of 6 metres (20 feet). Located on a tributary of the Chedoke Creek, it is a Complex Classic Cascade with year-round flow. Lower Westcliffe Falls is very unique, as it forms a Double Waterfall with Lower Cliffview Falls.

History

This waterfall has an alternate name of “Half of Double Waterfall at Chedoke Golf Course”. The second name derives from the fact that there is a double waterfall located at Chedoke Golf Course where two separate waterfalls are situated side by side. The water from both of these waterfalls merge together into one stream.

Lower Westcliffe Falls is featured separately on the Waterfalls of Hamilton Spring poster and together with Lower Cliffview Falls as “Double Waterfall at Chedoke Golf Course” on the Waterfalls of Hamilton Autumn poster.

How to get there

To reach Lower Westcliffe Falls, drive to the Chedoke Golf Course and park in the parking lot. Just beyond the west end of the lot, behind a chain link fence, the Double Waterfall is visible from the Chedoke Radial Trail. If you want to get up close to it, you have to go up the path between the fence and the concrete building on the left when facing the falls. When you reach the end of the fence carefully come back down the other side to where the path is almost level with the creek. It’s a little drop down to the creek
