Exploring
Waterfall Legends
Among Hamilton's 100-plus waterfalls are a few locations that
have an eye-opening past. They've witnessed broken hearts,
broken limbs, and other calamities. Most of these tragic events
happened so long ago that nowadays their authenticity is
questioned.
Did a scorned and despairing Jane Riley throw herself
into the ravine at Albion Falls sometime during the 1800s?
Did a coachman named William Black really hang himself in
an outbuilding at the Hermitage between 1833-35 after being
denied marriage to the girl he loved?
These and other local legends will be researched thoroughly,
and the results reported here.
