Waterfalls List
Here
is a list of 126 waterfalls that was compiled by Joe
Hollick, with some original work done by Steve Head.
The CityofWaterfalls.ca web team is pleased
to have Joe Hollick aboard as a contributor and advisor. Born
in Hamilton in 1945, Joe lived in the east end of Hamilton
near King St. and Parkdale Ave. and played in the Red Hill
Creek and at Albion Falls. Since retiring he has become a Director
of The Giant’s
Rib (Niagara Escarpment) Discovery Centre. One of his hobbies
is locating all the waterfalls in Hamilton and then photographing
every waterfall several times during the different seasons.
He
produced three posters titled: “WATERFALLS OF HAMILTON
SEASONS”, “WATERFALLS OF HAMILTON AUTUMN” and “WATERFALLS
OF HAMILTON SPRING”. In 2004 he won the Tourism Hamilton
Award for the category “New Tourism Idea” – Waterfalls
for his work on waterfalls and the posters.
Joe is part of
a waterfall group which includes the Hamilton Conservation
Authority, the City of Hamilton, Tourism Hamilton, Hamilton
Naturalist Club, the Bruce Trail head office, Bruce Trail
Iroquoia section, Giant’s Rib Discovery Centre
and some waterfall enthusiasts that meets several times a year
to continually update Hamilton’s waterfalls, work on
access to the waterfalls and increase their tourism potential.
Since late 2007 Joe has been writing a monthly article in
the Giant's Rib Newsletter about a different Hamilton waterfall
