Felker's Falls is located on a branch of
the Red Hill Creek called Davis Creek. Its height is 22 metres
(72 feet) and its crest width is 6 metres (20 feet). It is
considered a Terraced Ribbon Falls, and experiences year-round
flow. Its GPS coordinates are 17T 0598299 4784147.
History
The waterfall was formerly owned by Joseph
Benjamin Felker (1880-1956), who was born and lived his entire
life on the same property. Since Felker's Falls is situated
just off a subdivision, please show respect for private property.
In July 2008, Chris Ecklund met John Felker, a descendant of
the original family, during an excursion to the Devil's Punch
Bowl. Read all about it here.
To reach Felker's Falls by car, exit the
QEW on Centennial Parkway and drive south. Go right onto Mud
St, and then turn right again at Paramount Dr. Go right
once again onto Ackland Street, which leads to the parking
lot. The waterfall is located across the field, behind
the wooden fence.
That route takes you to the top of the waterfall. If you
wish to reach it from the bottom, take King St. East exit
off the Red Hill Valley Parkway and follow King Street to
Quigley Road. Turn right onto Quigley Road and follow it to
the end, then find a parking spot on the road. Walk past the
end of Quigley onto parkland and go straight until you reach
Davis Creek. Follow the creek upstream about 300 metres to
the base of Felker's Falls.
To reach Felkers Falls via a walking trail,
take the Stoney Creek section of the Bruce Trail.
